Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering was started in 2001 by the suggestion of Evaluating Branch of Learning on Traffic and Transportation Engineering of State Council Academic Degree Committee of China. Its responsible department is the Ministry of Education of PRC. Its sponsor is Chang’an University, which is famous with the education and study about road traffic and transportation engineering in China. Its associate sponsors are Evaluating Branch of Learning on Traffic and Transportation Engineering of State Council Academic Degree Committee of China, Southeast University and Southwest Jiaotong University, the latters are excellent in the field of traffic and transportation engineering in China. This journal with ISSN 1671-1637 is published bimonthly in China.

    The honorary chairman of this journal is professor Zhi-yun Shen, who is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, whose learning subject is railway engineering. The members of editor committee, including all members of Evaluating Branch of Learning on Traffic and Transportation Engineering of State Council Academic Degree Committee of China, are famous experts in the field of traffic and transportation engineering.

    This journal is an academic journal in comprehensive transportation, it publishes up to date theoretical and experimental papers with high creativity and great significance in the fields of road and railway engineering, transport vehicle engineering (such as automobile, train, ship, aircraft and so on), planning and management of traffic and transportation, traffic information engineering and control, etc. It also provides a platform for presenting the research results in multidisciplinary areas.

    The contributions from all over the world are welcome, they will be evaluated by the relative experts, edited according to the international standards, then published in English.

    This journal is a core journal in comprehensive transportation, and a source journal for Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations. It is included in Ei Compendex, Scopus in Holland, AJ in Russia, INSPEC in Britain, IC in Poland, CSA（Technology）in America, JST in Japan, CSCD（Core）, GCJC, CSTPCD, CAJCED, CNKI in China, and other databases. 
    This journal will be provided freely for citation systems and paper databases. According to Chinese S&T Journal Citation Reports in 2016 edited by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, the ratio of fund aided papers is 100%, the impact factor is on the first place in the 1st of 8 journals in the field of comprehensive transportation in China and on the 4th place in the list of all 1983 core journals, and it has gone into 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China issued by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China.
